(With the Armada defeated at last, and the Legendary Rangers having returned home, the Super Mega Rangers return to the command center. The Ranger Keys are no longer lit.)
Tensou: Oh boy, oh boy. Rangers, you did it.
Jake: Nah, she just kissed me, that's all.
Gia: Don’t make me start regretting that.
Troy: That we did, Tensou.
Gosei: Well done, Rangers. With the Armada defeated, Earth is safe once again.
Emma: Too bad Dante and Robo Knight didn’t make it to see our victory.
Noah: Yeah.
Gosei: And now, your time as Rangers has come to an end, for now.
Mal: For now?
Gosei: Should the time arise again that you are needed, you may reclaim your Ranger powers. Until such time, Tensou and I will guard the keys.
(The Super Mega Mode keys now have their own place among the other Ranger keys, and a new set of keys have appeared.)
Jake: Megaforce Keys?
Gia: Does that mean we're Legendary now?
Gosei: Yes, Emma.
Noah: Let's hope the need doesn’t arise too soon.
Gosei: As do we all, Noah.
(The Rangers place their Morphers on a table. Mal retrieves his Academatron.)
Tensou: I'm going to miss all of you.
Jake: We'll miss you too, Tensou.
(Tensou and Orion recite traditional Andresian farewell messages.)
Gosei: Goodbye, Rangers. May whatever your lives bring you be as good for you as you were for the Earth.
Mal: I do not know what my life will bring me, but I do know one thing. Tonight will be my last night in Harwood County, and in the forest. Tomorrow, I will move to Gray Lake. I just need to contact my holdpatra. I will just have to say goodbye to my parents, one last time.
Emma: I’m sure they could exhume your parents, and give them a proper burial in Gray Lake. Especially how close you said Bart and your Father were. Then, you could visit their graves whenever you needed to.
Mal: I shall mention that to him.
Jake: What are we still hanging around here for? We should celebrate our win. Let's head to Ernie's.
Noah: Yeah.
(The Rangers leave the command center, probably for the last time. Emma hugs Tensou before she leaves.)
Mal: I should stop and get my cap and apron, so I can turn it in.
Orion: I guess it's just going to be me and Ernie around there then.
Mal: Until he hires someone else.
(The Rangers arrive in the forest. Mal puts his Academatron in a compartment of the wrecked escape pod, then grabs his cap and apron.)
Mal: Just one more thing I need, then we can go.
Noah: What is it?
Mal: Something my cousins sent to me, recently.
(Mal grabs an envelope. It's a rather plain envelope.)
Jake: So, what's in it?
Mal: I do not know. I was only told to give it to Ernie when I was ready to leave his employment.
Troy: Alright. Let's go.
(The Rangers finally head on to the mall. Ernie's is relatively crowded, with customers celebrating the defeat of the Armada.)
Jake: Looks like everyone had the same idea that I had.
Gia: You think?
(The Rangers make their way inside.)
Ernie: Mal, Good, you finally made it. I need all hands on deck. Orion, I thought you were leaving?
Orion: That last attack destroyed my ride. I’m stuck here for a while, if you're willing to rehire me,
Ernie: Of course.
Orion: Great,
Mal: I should let you know, Ernie, this will be my last night working for you.
Ernie: Did you get another job offer? A rival fro-yo store? I'll double their offer.
Mal: No, it is not another job. I am moving away from Harwood County.
Ernie: Oh, well that's... Oh. Well, I'll miss having you around. You always took such good care of the plants.
Mal: And I was told to give you this when such time came.
(Mal hands Ernie the envelope. Ernie opens it. His eyes go wide.)
Orion: What is it?
Ernie: It's a check. A one million dollar investment, from Crowmeowme Industries Small Business Development Division.
Jake: One Million? Now I wish I had a small business.
Gia: Doing what? Teaching guys how to flirt and fail?
Jake: You're lucky you're so good looking. Your sense of humor needs work.
(After a while, most of the customers leave. It's only the Rangers remaining.)
Noah: So, Mal, what time are you leaving tomorrow?
Mal: I do not know. I just need to contact my cousins. I need to say goodbye to all my friends, human and otherwise.
Emma: The tress and plants of the forest.
Mal: And some of the animals.
Troy: Well, since tomorrow is Sunday, we'll all be in the forest when you leave.
Mal: I would like that.
Noah: What time do you think you'll leave?
Mal: Probably not before noon.
Noah: Then we'll get there around eleven.
Emma: Yeah. One last picnic before you leave. Like the one we had with Rico.
Gia: Great idea.
Mal: I would like that.
Orion: Can I bring my kite?
Mal: Where I live, there are too many trees. It would not fly very long. Or very high.
Troy: Then it's settled. We'll be there by 11.
Jake: Yeah. Gives me time for a quick soccer game after breakfast.
Gia: Some things never change.
(A few hours later, after the mall closes. Mal and Orion help Ernie clean up.)
Orion: I'll be in late tomorrow, Ernie. So I can be at Mal's goodbye parry.
Ernie: Alright, Orion.
(Mal hands Ernie his hat and apron.)
Mal: I hope you can find someone who can take as good of care as the plants as I did.
Ernie: It might be hard, but with the investment check, I'll have plenty of money to make improvements. Maybe open a second location.
(Ernie shakes Mal's hand, before everyone leaves for the night. As he heads back to the forest, Mal takes out a cell phone that was given to him, and dials Bart's number.)
Bart (v/o): Hey Mal.
Mal: Cousin. I am ready to move to Gray Lake.
Bart (v/o): Right now? It's almost ten. Ashley and I are getting ready for bed.
Mal: No, not tonight. Tomorrow.
Bart (v/o): Alright.
Mal: Would it be possible to move my parents' bodies there as well?
Bart (v/o): Of course. We'll just get a couple of caskets to place them in. Then, we can either bury them in Gray Lake Memorial Park, or in a secret burial vault we have.
Mal: I will think on where I would like them to remain.
Bart (v/o): Alright. What time should I come to get you?
Mal: Anytime after noon. My friends and I will be having a farewell picnic.
Bart (v/o): Ben told us about your Brown Ranger. I’m sorry.
Mal: Dante was, for the most part, a friend. But, in a way, he was my Andros.
Bart (v/o): He liked Emma, too?
Mal: Yes. But, she did not show any favoritism. She dated neither of us, saying she would decide when we were no longer Rangers. I would say her decision has been made, but, she still may not choose me, and decide to wait on a relationship.
Bart (v/o): If she does, then I know you will find another. After all, your first love isn’t always your true love.
Mal: As my father always said.
Bart (v/o): Who do you think I learned it from? Your father was one of the finest men I ever knew. Which is why he made me your holdpatra.
Mal: I will see you tomorrow.
Bart (v/o): Sleep well, my enholdin.
Mal: Sleep well, holdpatra.
(Mal is up early the next morning. He eats breakfast, then begins packing what little he has.)
Mal (thinking): I must have everything ready for when the others arrive. I do not want to keep getting ready to leave after they are here.
(Mal is done packing by ten. He then changes back into his old Minutiaeian clothes, and carefully folds his Earth clothes. He then begins saying goodbye to various animals who have known him for years. Right before eleven...)
Mal: My friends are approaching. Thank you, mighty oak.
(Mal waters a large oak tree, as the other Rangers arrive. Emma and Gia are carrying a large picnic basket.)
Jake: Hey Mal.
Mal: Good morning my friends.
Noah: Haven’t seen you in those clothes in almost two years.
Mal: Yes, I wanted to make sure you have the clothes you bought for me.
Gia: You don’t need to return them, Mal.
Emma: We bought those for you so you would blend in. We didn’t expect them back. Just like we don’t expect Orion to give back the clothes we bought him.
Mal: Then, I will pack them with my other possessions.
Orion: So, this is where you live? Bigger than a locker in the high school.
Mal: This is the escape pod from my father's ship. It has been the only home I know on Earth. But, tonight, for the first time since leaving Minutiae, some thirty-four cycles ago, I will sleep surrounded by four walls, and in a proper bed.
Orion: Sounds good to me.
Mal: If you choose to leave Ernie's employ and move to Gray Lake, my cousins will make sure you have a suitable home.
Orion: I'll think about that. No sense both of us leaving in such a short span of time. Ernie wouldn’t get a day off anymore.
(Gia and Emma start setting up the picnic.)
Mal: I see Kurt did not come.
Noah: He had other stuff to do today.
Mal: Understandable. He and I did not spend as much time getting to know each other outside of battle.
(Jake notices some small packages.)
Jake: Is that your luggage?
Jake: That is part of an old Minutiaeian tradition. You will find out about that later.
Gia; Lunch is ready.
(The Rangers sit on a large blanket to eat. Jake and Gia are holding hands at times.)
Mal: Rico may not be here for this picnic, but we do have Orion this time.
Orion: Who's Rico?
Emma: A robot that Vrak sent. He became our friend. We spent the whole day with him, before Vrak's other robot, Metal Alice, took over. But, he launched himself into space to save us. We all miss him.
Troy: Rico's not the only one who isn’t here for this picnic. Dante was there as well.
Jake; Way to ruin the mood, Troy.
(The Rangers finish eating. After everything has been cleaned up.)
Mal: Now, for the Minutiaeian tradition. When someone leaves, they give their closest friends gifts, to remember them, and say something to each of them.
Jake: Sounds like it could get expensive if someone has a lot of friends.
(Mal stands next to the packages.)
Mal: Troy. When we first met, we were both new to the group. But, you have proven yourself as a leader. And I would gladly follow you anywhere.
(Mal hands Troy a package. Inside, his father's book on Tor Ek Nal. Thankfully, it has both Minutiaeian and English words.)
Mal: May you use this to become an even better warrior.
Troy: Thanks, Mal.
Mal: Noah, you have shown me that wisdom is great, and, combined with the skills of a fighter, can be a perfect combination.
(Mal hands Noah a slightly larger package.)
Noah: Your academatron?
Mal: I used it to learn about Earth. Now, you can use it to learn about Minutiae.
Noah: Thanks.
Mal: Gia, you showed me that just because one does not look fierce does not mean one is not fierce. And I am certain the Turbo Falcon would agree with me if it were here.
(Mal hands Gia a smaller package. Inside, the head of an X-Borg.)
Gia: I didn’t think there were any left.
Mal: This one, you dismantled right before we finished off Prince Vekar. Consider it a trophy of your victory.
Gia; I know just where to put it. Thanks, Mal.
Mal: Jake. You have shown me that persistence can bring about the rewards you seek most. I know you will put this to good use.
(Mal hands Jake an envelope.)
Jake: Is this a check like you gave Ernie?
Gia: Just open it.
(Inside is a gift card.)
Jake: Free fro-yo for a year from Ernie's.
Mal: He gave that to me last night. Now, when the others say you are buying, you will not be spending as much.
Jake: Well, it's not a million dollars, but, I guess it's just as good. Thanks, dude.
Mal: Orion, we are both travelers from across the stars, but, we have made this world our home. The only difference between us being you lost everything before you arrived here, and I lost what was most important to me after being here for many years. I hope this brings you closer to Andresia whenever you use it.
(Mal hands Orion a long package. Inside, a Minutiaeian telescope.)
Mal: Many a night, my father and I would use it, and look back on Minutiae. I'm sure finding Andresia would be no problem for it.
Orion: Thanks, Mal.
(There are no more packages.)
Mal: Emma. I saved the one I will miss the most for last. When I first saw you, from up in the trees, I could tell you were beautiful. I just did not know that beauty went all the way to your heart. You care for plants as much as I do. I could not think of anything I could give you that would mean so much to you, so, I entrust my green friends in this part of the forest to your care. Keep them safe from harm.
Emma; I will, Mal.
Mal: But, I still must give you something. And, well, I have done this once before, but, you were unconscious at the time. I just want to know what this is like, when you are awake.
(Mal walks over to Emma, and kisses her. While she doesn’t kiss him back, she doesn’t push him away either.)
Mal: I hope you will all take advantage of your invitations soon enough.
Noah: Probably after we graduate, so, we still have another month or so.
(Moments later, Bart teleports in.)
Mal: Hello, cousin.
Bart: Hey Mal. Hello, everyone.
Mal: You have not met our Silver Ranger. This is Orion of Andresia. Orion, my holdpatra and cousin, Colta Micron Morphicron, or, as they know him on this planet, Ambassador Bart Crowmeowme.
Orion: Hello.
Bart: Andresia, huh? My vessel and I were there, about one hundred cycles ago. Fifty Earth years.
Orion: Long before I was born then.
Bart: Are you ready, Mal?
Mal: I am. I have just fulfilled the tradition of gift giving.
Bart: The best thing about moving from Angel Grove to Gray Lake was that our closest friends moved with us. But, when I left Minutiae to come to Earth, I gave my closest friends gifts. I gave your father a long distance observascope. Just like the one Orion is holding.
Mal: Then, that must be the same one. Father brought that with us from Minutiae.
Orion: Mal, if this belonged to your late father, I can’t keep this. You must have a lot of memories of him from using it.
Mal: Memories are something we Minutiaeians treasure, but, we treasure friends even more. And on Minutiae, returning a gift is a great insult.
Bart: That's true.
Orion: Then, I won’t insult you by returning it. I'll use it tonight to try and find Andresia.
Bart: I have the caskets ready.
Noah: Caskets?
Mal: To move my parents to Gray Lake. So they will be closer to me, (to Bart) I buried them just past these trees, in a great clearing.
Bart: I will take care of them. Continue saying your goodbyes.
(Bart heads over to the clearing.)
Emma: You've given us gifts, Mal, but, we have one for you, too.
(Emma hands Mal a wrapped gift.)
Mal: Much better than I was able to wrap my gifts to you.
(Mal unwraps the present. Inside, a framed picture, the Rangers all together. It was taken after Orion arrived, but, before Dante was lost.)
Troy: We all chipped in for the frame.
Mal: I will hang this near my bed, so I will see all of you when I first wake up, and right before I go to sleep. Not that I need a picture to remember any of you. Minutiaeians remember everything. Especially our closest friends.
(In the nearby clearing, Bart has found the graves of Mal's parents.)
Bart: Mercantus, my old friend. How I wish I had known you were on Earth much sooner than I did. Before you and Minimalia were struck down. The good times we could have talked about. The drignari we would have consumed. You could have been my supporter when I married Ashley. But, my Uncle Metronom warned me on the dangers of changing the past. I won’t go back and save your lives.
DAMPS (v/o): Colta Micron, I have locked on to two bodies near your location.
Bart: Alright, DAMPS. Teleport one into each casket. Quicker and less disrespectful than unburying them.
DAMPS (v/o): Teleporting now.
(In a matter of moments, the two piles of rocks, under which Mal buried his parents, sink down a bit.)
Bart: Bring the caskets up to the cargo hold. We'll arrange proper burial once we're back in Gray Lake.
(The caskets are teleported back to the Ultraship. Bart returns to Mal and the others.)
Bart: Your parents are ready to be transferred to Gray Lake.
Mal: I would like them to be buried in your memorial park. I take it that is similar to a rest area near a clan hall?
Bart: Yes, and no. It's similar in that we bury those who have passed on there, but it isn’t limited to members of any one family. And right now, most buried there were loved ones of other Rangers, who had them transferred once the city was opened.
Noah: That seems a bit unusual.
Bart: Exactly when my cousins thought, but, with cemetery overcrowding throughout Saban County, it proved beneficial in other municipalities.
Mal: Well, my friends, until any of you choose to move to Gray Lake, or, at least, come for a visit, this is goodbye.
(The former Megaforce Rangers share a group hug. The others then move back from Mal and Bart. Mal's few remaining belongings are teleported up first.)
Troy: Take care of yourself, Mal.
Mal: I will have my family to help with that.
Jake: I'll make sure you're invited to the wedding.
Gia: Wedding? We haven’t even had a date yet, and you're already getting us engaged.
Jake: I like to think ahead of things.
(Mal just chuckles. He looks at Emma, before he and Bart are teleported to the Ultraship.)
Orion: I guess I'd better get to Ernie's.
Troy: We'll go with you. Jake can treat us all with that card Mal gave him.
Jake: Oh no. I'll treat Gia and me, no one else.
(As they head to Ernie's...)
Gia: I know that look. You're thinking about something.
Emma: Yeah. I mean, Dante's last words were saying he loves me, and Mal kissing me before he leaves.
Gia: You weren’t surprised by that.
Emma: He told me he loves me already. Before we met Rico. And then Dante said he had feelings for me. I told them I wouldn’t date either of them until the Earth was safe. And I kept my promise. But now...
Gia: Now, it looks like you don’t have to choose.
Emma: Except, now there's someone else I have a crush on.
Gia: Who?
(Emma points at Orion.)
Gia (whispered): Is that why you chose him to help stop that monster that was stealing happiness?
Emma (whispered): Not really. But, as we got to know him better...
Gia: So, what are you going to do?
Emma: Wait until after graduation to decide who I want to be with. I could even find someone else by then.
