Life in Gray Lake

( At 5:15 am Pacific time, as President Trump leaves the White House for the last time, a computer virus is unleashed on Gray Lake. Almost every computer in the city, with the exceptions of ones running the Minutiaeian OS in Crowmeowme Tower, the Minutiaeian embassy and the Minutiaeian cultural center, will display red screens, with scrolling messages of “Make America Great Again”, “America First” and “Trump 2024.)

(Rainbow is trying to fix the severs that were affected by the virus, but can't seem to fix it. And with computer repair sparce, he considers shutting it down. )
Bill: We have no idea how long this will last. It has to be similar to that riot about a week ago. We will find the culprit or culprits.
(Melissa works on the other server, and manages to find a workaround. She quickly works on the other server.)
Melissa: Luckily, they didn't get the root files. I just worked through the BIOS to get around the virus. We still need to clean the computers though, and I hope we get a patch on a virus update soon. The server seems undamaged.
(Rainbow checks the server carefully, but there was enough security in place so that no Pro-Trump signs were posted anywhere. People on the server also ask what is going on, and get a process from Melissa. She asks for no payment.)

(Most of Gray Lake is at a standstill, thanks to what some are calling the MAGA virus. In an underground facility....)

(Fortunately, or unfortunately, the servers are back online. Almost no one expects an Anti-Minuteian plot. Rainbow and Melissa are on the adult server, which has devolved into a party for Rainbow. Bill and Sandy are on the other server.)
Rainbow: Grey Lake is at a stand still. No one can do much of anything.
Melissa: I will send a message. I don't know if it will help, but anything is better than a city at a standstill.
Rainbow: I doubt that it was really a Pro-Trump stunt. I know that there are still a few people to be identified, but who among them has that kind of computer experience?
Melissa: I do not know.

(It has been less than 24 hours since the virus was unleashed, and most computers in Grey Lake are not working. Even ATMs are down. Most are struggling to try to implement a fix designed by Melissa, and a few computers are back up, one among them is Rainbow's office computer. Most of PRWF's other computers are down, barring a few exceptions. Rainbow is considering his options. Meanwhile, the servers are rife with rumors that another computer attack may happen in New York in the next few days, crippling Wall Street. The FBI is looking into this seriously.)

(. Twenty-four hours after the virus was unleashed, and Gray Lake is still mostly crippled. Traffic lights are still down, and temporary stop signs are being deployed throughout the city. Railroad service into the city has been halted, as has air travel. Businesses already suffering vpbecaisrpe of the pandemic have suffered further because their registers are not working. Schools are forced into mid-winter breaks, because Tele- classrooms are not an option.)

(It has been two and a half days since the virus was unleashed. And every TV channel in Gray Lake is pirated, showing the same message.)

Voice: Thebresidents of Gray Lake’s most elite address still have access to the Internet.

(The commercial shows crowmeowme Tower.)

Voice: If they still have Internet and you don’t, what does that say about them, as opposed to the rest of us?

Rainbow: Then we know who did the virus. And I fear they may be protests at the Tower.
(Several small business owners are protesting outside the Tower, due to the commercial. Unfortunately, the crowd seems to be getting larger. The protests, for now, is peaceful, but any antiMinuteian could easily turn it violent.)

[PrezGAR]

(At 4;57 pm, a brick is thrown at the main entrance to Crowmeowme Tower, by an unknown party. The protests start to become less peaceful.)

(Unlike the recent Capitol assault, this violent attack seems to be unplanned. Using the broken door as a breakpoint, the mob quickly beings to break down the doors, and enter the main Tower. Security, if available, should be there to try to arrest many, but they are clearly outnumbered. Most there are using whatever they could grab as weapons, not guns. News Cameras pull up outside. Unless proper action is taken, the occupants of the Tower could be dragged into a problem they may not be able to solve without giving up something for the Anti-Minueians to use)

(With the main doors breached, the public elevators go into lockdown. Only the private elevators, activated by a key card, are still running. A robot receptionist activates a silent alarm. While the tower does have an emergency stairway, it cannot be accessed from the lobby. There is literally no place the intruders can go from where they are. Even if they pry open the elevator doors, the public elevators are locked in place on the second floor, preventing a climb up the shaft.)

(Even though it seems there is no way for the protestors to move forward, the Anti-Minuteian protesters assumed the building would go into lock down, and have prepared for that. The police will be there shortly to arrest those involved.)

(Hidden cameras on the outside of the tower see everyone, and facial recognition is run. If they arent wearing masks, there is a good chance the GLPD or the FBI wil be visiting them.)

(Rainbow is experiencing a similar situation. There is a peaceful protest outside his house, and a broken window. Fortunately, the window is too small for anyone to enter.)

(As the GLPD arrive at Crowmeowme Tower, Ben and Carl come from around the building, having taken the stairs to avoid the mob.)

Officer: Sorry about your front door, Chief.
Ben: Dont worry. The tower can do repairs overnight. I'll send the security footage over, along with any facial recognition my person system has done. Hopefully, we'll have whoever started it in custody within three days.

Rainbow: Remind me to replace that window and change the one we want people to break into.

(Rainbow has given out some old electric cash registers to the small business owners. He has yet to find credit card machines. At least, most of the businesses in Grey Lake can reopen, even if they only take cash. He expects no payment for the registers. He only wonders who threw the brick.)

Cybvercrimes officer: I've finally isolated it. Ive got it on a flash drive. Now, we reboot the system, and most of the virus will be gone. It's going to take more work to get it out of isolated networks, like ATMs and cash registers.
