In 2018 a new terrorist threat arose. Like a phoenix from the ashes of Cobra, a new group, using modified Cobra equipment and uniforms, as well as some stolen GI Joe gear, has arisen. They are called the Legion of the Golden lightning, lead by the mysterious Lord Lightning.
To combat this new threat, the GI Joe team has disbanded, and reformed under a new designation. A slightly more streamlined version of what they once were, to battle this new, oncoming storm. They are the Stormbreakers.
Ten years ago, Alexander Aureus was on top of the world. He was the CEO and face of Aureus International, a global corporation with locations on every populated continent, making billions every year. He was rich, handsome, and dating some of the most beautiful women on the planet.
Then, he was caught in an explosion, an act of industrial sabotage by an unscrupulous rival. His face was scarred, beyond the means of even the most skilled surgeons to repair. He tried to hide his face behind a hood, but no one would do business with him anymore. And no woman would ever be seen willingly at his side. He sold his company, and his various residences, and allegedly was killed when his private jet crashed somewhere over the Pacific. His bank accounts were empty, and no will was filed.
But Aureus was still alive. He landed his plane safely on an uncharted island, 10 miles wide, twenty miles long, some 200 miles off the coast of California. He had transferred his entire fortune into a numbered Swiss account, and would use it to finance a new undertaking. One with aspirations of global domination. He would seek out the most ruthless individuals he could find. Mercenaries, dishonorably discharged military officers, disgraced scientists, even a disowned heiress. They would become the backbone of his new group. All he needed was a name. As he thought of one, in his temporary headquarters, a storm was brewing. Lightning flashed across the sky, striking his now useless plane. With that lightning strike also came inspiration. He would call himself Lord Lightning, and his force would be the Legion of the Golden Lightning.
His second in command was Caroline Cashburn, a socialite, daughter of a wealthy attorney, who was disowned after being caught in a scandal with one of her father's clients. She went from living the good life in Beverly Hills, to working at a fast food place in a matter of days. The chance to be free from this was all it took to get her on Aureus' side. She was given the new name Lady Thunder. Her appearance was changed through plastic surgery, performed by one of the same surgeons who failed to reconstruct Aureus' own face. After this, the surgeon was executed, so he could not reveal what he knew.
Next in the hierarchy were Aureus' two most trusted business associates. They had been executive with his company, and would hold similar positions within the Legion, making sure their operations were well funded. They were also given surgery, this time to make them identical to each other, and given the code=names Bull and Bear, both stock market terms.
The military leader of the Legion is a man known only as General Pain. A recently overthrown military dictator, he hid his face behind a golden mask, looking like a skull. His experience and strategic brilliance is why Aureus made him a general.
Next was Colonel Dread, dishonorably discharged from the US Air Force for bombing a civilian population during the War on Terror. He would be the head of the Legion's air power.
Next was a second generation mercenary, Sebastian Bludd Jr. His father had been frequently employed by the terrorist organization Cobra, and taught his son everything he knew.
Then there was the head of the Legion's fleet, Captain Henri Deluge. Once the skipper of a French cargo ship, he was relieved of his duties after dumping his cargo to the bottom of the Atlantic rather than surrender it to Somali pirates. Aureus recruited him promising he could get revenge on both the pirates and his former employers.
Captain Deluge’s second in command is a woman known only as the Iron Maiden. She is ruthless, and is in charge of the Legion's submarine fleet. She is missing an eye, the circumstances of which are, as yet, unknown.
Lieutenant Strike was a former boxer, who was known for winning fights after bribing his opponents into taking a dive. Those who refused would receive savage beatings, resulting in his disqualification. When the truth of his remarkable win/loss record was revealed, his boxing license was revoked, and he was facing criminal charges. He is the combat trainer for the Legions forces.
Sergeant Jolt is as cruel as they come. A brutal drill instructor, kicked out of the US Marines for harsh treatment of recruits. Aureus saw this as the perfect tool for weeding out those two weak to be a part of the Legion.
Below him are Sturm and Drang, German twins, who lead the Legion's Elite Guard. Nothing is known of their past, except that they have been known to break speed records on the Autobahn, often at the expense of other motorists.
A Brazilian woman, known only as Piranha is the leader of the Legion's divers. Once an Olympic-level swimmer, she lost her only medal for a doping violation. She lives up to her nickname, having filed her teeth into razor-sharp points. Anyone who disobeys her orders is bitten and abandoned in shark-filled waters, while the blood is still flowing.
A man called Sandstorm is the head of desert operations. Nothing is known about him.
Nimbus serves as Aureus' personal pilot, when he doesn’t feel like flying himself. He is Aureus' second longest term associate after Bull and Bear. He can fly any form of aircraft, from small plans to cargo jets, gliders to helicopters.
Professor Storm serves as the Legion's Chief Scientist and head of R & D. Allegedly smarter than Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawking, his specialty is robotics, but is equally adept in other areas of science.
Dr Amadeus Steele serves as Lord Lightning's personal physician, and as Chief Medical officer for the Legion. He once had a private practice in Manhattan, and a future as a promising surgeon, until his addiction to gambling cost him his career.
A man named Cy Klohn answers to Bull and Bear. He is the leader of the most dangerous division of the Legion. The ones who strike in the board room and at the stock market. They are known as the Corporate Raiders.
Highrise was once a member of a prestigious architectural firm in Los Angeles. He designed skyscrapers, mansions and shopping malls, before it was learned his designs would often cut corners to come in under budget. Disgraced, he was recruited by Lord Lightning, rather than face potential criminal charges.
The enigmatic, and somewhat unstable, warrior known as Wreckage is loose cannon, but respects Lord Lightning. He is sent on high risk demolition assignments, where a larger group would easily be noticed.
And finally, there's Aureus' two Ninja Bodyguards. There true names are unknown, but Aureus refers to them as Kato and Dragon, both references to Bruce Lee.
Lord Lightning knows that clothes make the man, and he has outfits for every occasion. Most of the time, he wears a military uniform, with the same hood he tried to hide his disfigurement. This is his casual outfit.
When he addresses his forces, he dons what he refers to as ceremonial armor. This suit is equipped with twin sets of claws, which he can use effectively for discipline.
When he decides to get his hands dirty, he has three battle outfits to choose from. The first is his casual uniform with a battle helmet replacing his hood. Major Bludd Jr says this reminds him of a picture his father showed him of Cobra Commander. The resemblance is more than intentional.
He also has two sets of combat armor he can also wear. One is lighter armor, when he doesn’t expect to see any real hand-to=hand combat, but still wants to be protected,
The other provides much better protection, as well as enhanced strength.
However, when he makes his demands, Professor Storm uses computer technology to change Lord Lightning’s appearance. He looks more imposing than he actually is, with a Skull mask, similar to General Pain's. His voice is also altered, so no one can attempt to surmise his true identity. A dedicated cameraman, referred to as only The Documentarian, films Lord Lighting. He is dressed the black-gray color of the non Elite ranks.
The majority of the Legion's equipment was obtained from deserted Cobra facilities. These facilities were accessed thanks to help from someone with insider knowledge of those facilities. Zartan, the master of disguise. He, his family, and his Dreadnoks have become an unofficial branch of the Legion, with a retainer of $1,000,000 US annually.
Lord Lightning also managed to recruit the former member's of the Russian Oktober Guard. Disillusioned with the leadership of Vladimir Putin, they became the Legion's agents in Eastern Europe and Asia, from a base in Siberia.
Not appearing on any maps or charts, Lightning Island was spotted by Alexander Aureus six years before he became Lord Lightning. He kept this island a secret, his hidden getaway. That is why it was perfect to become the headquarters of the Legion. A series of roads connects the various facilities the legion has built on the island. There are watchtowers and a variety of defensive weapons all along the island. These include anti-aircraft missiles and powerful cannons to fire on approaching ships. Gunnery positions fire tracer rounds at any paratroopers who dare to assault from above.
The east coast of the island is dominated by a large natural harbor. The Legions. Flagship, the Typhoon, is anchored just outside of this area. There is a defensive platform at the north side of this harbor, the first line of defense for the island.
The north end of the island sees the command center. This is where Lord Lightning directs the Legion's operations from. It has two large gunnery turrets, to defend the island.
Just west of the command center is the missile command center. It is unknown exactly what kind of missiles can be launched from here, although the Legion is rumored to have hijacked two nuclear warheads.
Across the road from this is the motor pool. A multi-leveled garage, with some vehicles stored below the surface. These include traditional military vehicles, such as tanks and motorcycles, and innovations from Professor Storm, including various suits of power armor and a modular mobile command center.
Moving along the road is a lagoon, and the legion's submarine pen. There are three types of subs stored here. Patrol, attack and research.
Moving south, the road diverges. The right leads to Professor Storm's lab and testing facilities. A tall fence surrounds it, and a guard station keeps out all but members of the high Command, members of the STEM division, or the assigned guards.
Going due south on the road leads to the training grounds, and to a large hangar, where the Legion's airpower is stored. A long runway goes more than half the length of the island, to allow as many plans to take off as possible.
Taking the road to the left first brings you to the harbor and dry-dock, where the Legion's fleet is stored and maintained, with the exception of the Typhoon, too large to store in the facility.
At the south end of the island is a long dormant volcano, which has been transformed into a fortress. Lord Lightning, Lady Thunder and the rest of the High Command have spacious living quarters within here. Lord Lightning's personal land and air vehicles are also stored here. It can serve as a back-up command center, in the event that weather conditions, or an enemy assault, make traveling the length of the island to the north end too risky.
West of the fortress are the barracks, where the Legion's troopers are housed. It has room for 10,000, with co-ed facilities. Fraternization is encouraged, in order to build the Legion's ranks from within. Though, as yet, no children have been born on the island.
Extensive medical facilities are located between the barracks and the training ground. With all the amenities of a major hospital, the Legion is kept healthy here.

The bulk of the Legion's forces are made up of recruits. The wanted, the disenfranchised, the exiled, the bankrupt; anyone who needs a new life with total anonymity.
Those who wish to join have to go through a grueling evaluation process, before they can even become a Level 1 trooper. Recruits are given gender neutral uniforms. Once they reach Level 1, the uniforms become gender specific. However, as the ranks progress, while the male uniforms can noticeably change, the female uniforms remain pretty much the same.
Level 1 troops form the backbone of the Legion's forces. They go through rigorous training 10 hours every day, unless they are in action.
If you are fortunate to make it to Level 2, you can become one of the Legion's paratroopers. If you survive jump school, of course. Troopers at this level also begin their diving and polar combat training.
Level 3 has only one advantage over Level 2. You get better winter weather gear for your polar training.
At level 4, troopers become eligible for communications duties. These include field communications, as well as helping transmit Lord Lightning's demands. Dive gear at this level is upgraded, and training includes working with rays, specially bred by Professor Storm.
Once reaching level 5, the male uniform undergoes a very significant change. Their eyes are no longer seen, making them more feared by opponents. Divers now become equipped with robot sharks, capable of firing a number of projectiles, including harpoons and miniature torpedoes. Communications duties at this level now include intercepting enemy transmissions. At this level, troops can also begin training to become a specialist, at the cost of denying themselves further advancements in rank.
Level 6 is quite similar to Level 5, except the uniforms are given an extra layer of Kevlar for protection. Divers are now given a harpoon gun and a task to bring in at least three shark teeth. If they are taken from a shark that had been previously killed, troopers are demoted two ranks. Communications training adds hacking skills.
Level 7 male uniforms are when the armor really gets upgraded. Divers, however, get a much sleeker uniform, for greater maneuverability. Polar gear gets bulkier for greater warmth, but they also have to carry around large cannons.
Level 8 is where training and the ability to advance becomes even more difficult. The male troopers helmets now have HUDs built-in, but inhibit neck movement. Communications troopers are given tablet sized devices. Polar Troops no longer have to lug the cannon, and are given snowboards for faster travel.
At level 8, the male troopers get back their neck movement while still having the HUD. Divers are given armored wet suits which are surprisingly maneuverable. Communications troops now qualify for polar duties.
For most of the troops, Uniforms at this level receive the gold color of the hierarchy of the Legion, a sign of their higher ranks. Level 10 is the pinnacle of what they can achieve. Female troops lose their helmets, but are compensated with access to the full small arms arsenal. Male troops can chose to equip themselves with hall small arms, or one small arms weapon and one large cannon. Divers are given a remote controlled torpedo, disguised as a barracuda. Polar troops have new heating elements built into their gear. For safety reasons, these devices cannot exceed temperatures of 75 F, to avoid uniform combustion or burns.
Only a small handful of troops can make it to Level 11, and to date, no female troops have made it this far. At this rank, a trooper can become a platoon leader, and have an audience with Lord Lightning himself. One out of 10 troops can make it to this level. And those who can, are eligible to attain even higher rank, by becoming one of the Elite Troops.
The Elite Forces all answer to Sturm and Drang. Like the standard troops, they have 10 ranks, each differentiated by uniforms, and occasionally weapons. Elite Troops all have the Golden Uniforms that are the symbol of the Legion. Elite Levels 1 through 4 are similar in terms of duties, serving as front line troops in Legion operations, or as security of Professor Storm's lab.
At level 5, the Elite must do one shift weekly as bodyguards for Lady Thunder, and another weekly shift guarding the Command center. Those who are distracted by Lady Thunder’s beauty rarely live to make it to level 6.
Those who do make it to Level 6 are given torso armor, and specialized twin barrel blasters.
Level 7 Elite troopers have the honor of escorting Lord Lightning into battle, when he chooses to venture forth.
Level 8 Elite Troops serve as guards for Professor Storm, Sergeant Jolt and Lieutenant Strike. They can also serve on the Legion's fleet, answering to Captain Deluge.
Level 9 elites guard Captain Deluge, Major Bludd Jr and Colonel Dread. They are given their own weapons, not available to lower ranks.
Level 10 is the Elite of the Elite. They are the personal guards of General Pain, and can be called upon to execute prisoners as Lord Lightning sees fit. Some level 10 Elites can become "playthings" for Lady Thunder, an added benefit for those lucky enough to make it this high.
There is only one rank higher than Level 10 Elite, and that is to become part of Lord Lightning's Honor Guard. They rarely see combat. The commander and second in command of the Honor Guard wield ceremonial sabers. The leader can be differentiated from the others by his unique uniform, which includes a special helmet, and a cape.
The most feared forces of the Legion are not the Elite Troopers, or even the standard rank troopers. They are Professor Storm's Robotic Operational Destroyers, known as the Lightning R.O.D.s. overseen by Professor Storm's assistant, Haywire, and a group of technicians, the R.O.D.s are led into battle by Professor Storm's masterpiece, the Mark X. Most versions of the R.O.D.s have interchangeable hands, with specialized weapons attachments.
The Mark I through Mark VII models have the black/gray color scheme of the standard troops.
The Mark VIII and Mark X have the gold coloring.
(There is, as of yet, no Mark IX. Any improvements over the Mark VIII would become the new Mark X, and the current Mark X would become Mark IX. There is a new model series that could become the Mark IX, once they are perfected.)
The R.O.D.s can be accompanied by robotic tracking units when in pursuit of specific targets. One on the ground, resembling a dog, the other in the air, resembling a bat.
The Professor isn’t resting on his laurels. He is constantly working on new prototypes, most of which do not have the humanoid appearance of the Lightning R.O.D.s. Among these are two prototypes with transformation capabilities. One into a fighter drone, the other into an unmanned tank.

As mentioned above, Level 5 troops can forgo further advancement to become specialized units with the legion. There are 10 divisions of specialties to choose from, depending on each individual’s preferences and aptitude.
Those who want to do the most damage can chose the Artillery division. These include specialists for anti-aircraft, anti-armor, grenades and manning Lightning Island's defenses.
Those with a need for speed go to the cavalry division. There you can choose from being a standard driver or a tank driver. Those who do well enough as a tank driver can receive a promotion to Tank Commander, the only chance for a promotion among the specialists.
Those who want to see the most action can choose the infantry. The standard infantry trooper has more armor than a level 1 through 4 trooper, but the helmet is similar. Other specialties in this division include commandos, desert troopers, explosives expert, flame throwers, laser troopers, machine gunners, marksmen or Lightning Island security.
For those with a love of sea air, there are the naval divisions. The pilots for large and small watercraft, all supervised by Captain Deluge aboard the Legion's flagship, a decommissioned aircraft carrier called The Typhoon, serving as deck and flight crew aboard the Typhoon, or deep sea divers.
If one prefers to see things from a bird's eye view, there are four types of pilots in the Legion, Standard pilots, for recon and transport flights. Fighter pilots, for aerial combat. Fast Attack pilots, for strafing missions. And the self-explanatory helicopter pilots.
If one is more of a thinker than a doer, there is the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) division. These include scientists (answering directly to Professor Storm) or Field Technicians (repairing vehicles, weapons or Lightning R.O.D.s.
Then, there is the Urban Division. These troops answer either to Cy Klohn or to Bull and Bear. These include the dreaded Corporate Raiders, and five types of urban warfare units; infantry, commandos, infiltrators, troopers and storm troopers.
Those who wish to serve in the Legion without seeing frontline combat can choose either to become a Quartermaster, or a support position.
As in traditional military, quartermasters are in charge of distributing weapons and equipment to the troops. Each quartermaster has a different area expertise, and all wear matching golden masks.
As for support positions, these are the backbone of everyday operations on Lightning Island. There are four corps within this division.
The Construction Battalion, which built and maintains the facilities on the island.
The fire brigade, which sees little action, but, like traditional fire departments, are invaluable.
The security patrol, which keeps the island safe from those who happen to discover it, or from invasions by anyone looking to destroy the Legion.
And the Medical corps, a division of the science department, which keeps all members of the Legion hale and hearty.
And finally, there is the Blacks Ops division. Very few choose this division. Its leader is a former Cobra operative, known only as the Pit-Viper. He's a master of torture and interrogations. His methods are medieval, and a clear violation of the Geneva Convention. The other positions in this division are assassin and sniper.
After he created Serpentor, Dr Mindbender used some leftover genetic material, as well as a few new sources, to create a different warrior. He was not meant to lead, but to inflict pain. His DNA donors included Vlad the Impaler, the Marquis De Sade, the Grand Inquisitor Torquemada, among others. Donning one of Cobra Commander's spare hoods, this feared figure was based in the deepest, darkest, dankest dungeons of Cobra Island, thus giving him the title of the Pit-Viper. His loyalty to Serpentor was without question. His methods, while considered primitive, always brought results. He loved to hear the screams of his victims. His tool were the most fear implements of pain ever made; the rack, the iron maiden, heated metal blades and pokers, hot coals, whips, spikes, even Chinese water torture. Few of those who were sent to his dungeon ever left alive. There are even reports that he had special forms of interrogation methods he used on female prisoners. Ones which even Destro thought were incomprehensible.
The Pit-Viper has a special dislike for Zartan and the Dreadnoks. This only became worse after Zartan assassinated Serpentor to end the Cobra Civil War. Despite his loyalty to Serpentor, Cobra Commander was impressed at the Pit-Viper's track record of getting prisoners to talk, so he kept him around. he remined hidden on Cobra Island, even after Cobra itself was defeated. A fact he only learned of thanks to, ironically enough, Zartan. The master of disguise was scouting Cobra Island for his new employer, Lord Lightning. Thinking the Pit-Viper had left, Zartan entered the dungeon, looking for anything that would be of use to the Legion of the Golden Lightning. Zartan was surprised when he found a red hot knife at his throat. the Pit-Viper was ready to avenge his fallen Emperor, but Zartan had not come alone. Lady Thunder was with him. Zartan told her of the Pit-Viper's history, and the proven results. She offered him a position with the Legion, not only to interrogate, but also o discipline troopers who would fail far too often. Paid with a sack of rubies, and the promise of plenty of "guests" in his new dungeon, he agreed. His first assignment was to go after another project of Mindbender's, who had turned against Cobra and joined the Joes.
When the Pit-Viper has to leave Lightning Island, he uses a portable dungeon, in the trailer of a semi truck, modified for his needs. A Legion cargo jet takes the truck to wherever Pit-Viper is needed, then returns him, and any prisoners who happen to survive, back to Lightning Island.

After the fall of Cobra, Zartan and his Dreadnoks became freelance, causing mayhem on behalf of anyone who would pay them. Lord Lightning, wanting access to old Cobra equipment and uniforms, contacted Zartan, and offered him a hefty retainer to help build up the Legion's resources. With a promise of one million dollars US a year, Zartan couldn't say no.
Ever a master of Disguise, Zartan commands the Dreadnoks, as always. In addition to his disguise skills, Zartan is also a master archer, having used a bow to assassinate both the Hard Master of the Arashikage Clan (Uncle of Storm Shadow and Jinx) and Serpentor.
Zartan's daughter, Zanya, serves as his second-in-command. While not a mistress of disguise, like the other members of her family, most of the other Dreadnoks respect her, just as they do Zartan.
One who doesn't respect Zanya is her Aunt Zarana. She thinks she should be her brother's second-in-command, since she has more experience.
Zandar chooses not to take sides in the bickering between his sister and his niece. More often than not, he just avoids being noticed, which he does exceedingly well.
As the smartest of ths Dreadnoks, having been a Sociology Don at Cambridge before giving that up for the biker lifestyle, is the de facto leader of the Dreadnoks when Zartan, or any other member of os his family, is not around.
Ripper is the meanest of the original Dreadnoks, if not the most destructive. Hailing from Tasmania, Lord Lightning refers to him as the Tasmanian Devil for his destructive tendencies.
As the least intelligent of the orig9inal Dreadnoks, Torch is easy to use as a scapegoat for the other members. Professor Steele has upgraded his torch from a standard oxy-acetelyne welder's tool, to a proper flamethrower, with a new hotter burning fuel source.
Monkeywrench serves as the explosives expert for the Dreadnoks. However, he can easily be defeated by releasing spiders in his general vicinity.
Thrasher is the lead mechanic for the Dreadnoks, and responsible for the dreaded Thunder Machine.
Zanzibar is the one Dreadnok even the other's cant stand to be around. A modern day pirate, the Legion gave him an old Cobra Moray Hydrofoil as his pirate ship. He raids commercial vessels within 100 miles of Lightning Island for their cargo, and private vessels for potential prisoners or willing recruits.
The other Dreadnok with no respect for Zanya is Road Pig. Suffering from a split personality, the erudite and well mannered Donald, and the savage Road Pig, both his personalities are in love with Zarana.
A poacher with off hygenic habits, Gnawgahyde usually finds himself apart from the other Dreadnoks because he never bathes before he hunts. And he's always on the hunt. The ony animal he wont hunt is his pet warthog, Clyde.
Like Thrasher, Burn Out is also a mechanic, and not only maintains the Dreadnoks' bikes, but also makes custom ones for them.
Demolisher lives up to his name, by cutting paths of destruction through any force that gets in his way, including his fellow Dreadnoks.
An enigma even to his fellow Dreadnoks, Kaos is the most dangerous, because no one knows anything about him, other than he likes to inflict pain.
The lone female Dreadnok not related to Zartan, Heart-Wrencher is also a mechanic, and lives up to her name by constantly turning down the other Dreadnoks' romantic overtures towards her.
A former pro wrestler, Crusher is the strongest of the Dreadnoks, and the one you would least like to go up against in unarmed combat.
A new recruit, Chop Shop helps provide parts for Dreadnok vehicles, by stripping them from other vehicles. When he is on Lightning Island, security is increased around the motor pool.
Storm Rider is responsible for arming the Dreadnok vehicles, and doesn't always use conventional weaponry. Anything he sees destructive potential in can be used.

When the Soviet Union fell in the early 1990s, the members of the Oktober Guard remained loyal to Mother Russia. However, when Vladimir Putin took over, the members of the elte unit began to see things differently. It took sometime before they found a leader who earled enough loyalty from them that they would betray Russia. Unfortunately, that leader was Lord Lightning. Now allied with the Legion, the Oktober Guard, working out of a base in Siberia, would be special operatives within Russia, waiting for Lord Lightning's command, to hopefully storm the Kremlin and take over all of Russia in his name.
The current leader of the Guard, General Iron Bear, recipient of the Star of Lenin before the fall of the USSR. He disagreed with the 2014 annexation of Crimea, and took the Guard rogue after that.
Colonel Gregori Nikolevich Brekhov, brother of Ivan Nikolevich Brekhov, the original Colonel of the Guard, took his late brother's place at the request of Iron Bear. Hailing from the Ukraine, he took the annexation of Crimea seriously as an offense against his people, and cemented his trust in Iron Bear.
Daina, hailing from the Czech Republic and not Russia, felt no allegiance to Moscow after the fall of communism, but remained with the Guard to respect the memory of the late Colonel Brekhov.
Big bear, one of two members of the Guard to have served as exchange officers on the GI Joe team, thrives in the cold of the team's Siberian base of operations. he sometimes serves as a trainr for the Legion's anti-armor Specialists.
Red Star also served as an exchange officer on the Joe Team. Like Colonel Brekhov, he hails from the Ukraine, and feels a loyalty to his people there more than to anyone else, save for Iron Bear.
The current Horrorshow inherited his codemane from his late cousin, killed on the same mission that took the life of the original Colonel Brekhov and two others. His weapon of choice is an RPG launcher.
Dragonsky, one of the two survivors of the original team alongside Daina, is the team's flamethrower. he grew up just a ruble's throw away from the Kremlin in Moscow, and took the team's decision to turn against Russia the hardest.
Lt Gorky has no hesitation about betraying the Kremlin to join the Legion. He saw most of the Russian military as corrupt, even the crew of the submarine he was a crew member on.
Sgt. Misha Zubenkov is one of the veritable rookies of the team, but has sworn his loyalty to Iron Bear and Brekhov.
Another replacement who inherited the code-name of a fallen Guard member, Stormavik is the team's paratrooper, and third in command after Iron Bear and Brekhov.
Shrage is the last of the replacements for original Guard members who were Killed in Action. His predecessor was East German, before the fall of the Berlin Wall, The current member is from Kazakhstan. He is very patriotic, and considers the movie Borat an affront to his homeland.
The original Volga was Daina, using a code-name, after the deaths of her comrades. The current Volga is the spurned mistress of a Russian oligarch, who dumped her for one who was younger, more attractive and less violent. She decided to take out her aggressions by joining the Guard, after sinking his yacht in the Baltic, while he and his mistress were both on board.

Crimson Guard / Grey Guard
The Crimson Guard were formed by Tomax and Xamot while in Cobra, working with Extensive Enterprises. This guard was highly trained, almost mercenary type forces that worked for Cobra, until Cobra's fall. One Cobra fell, and Extensive Enterprises returned to TOmax and Xamot after a five year prison sentence, the Guard joined the two founders, becoming a mercenary force, working for whoever could pay them, except not as a terrorist organization. Extensive Enterprises, until its sale, was doing entertainment business. Unfortunately, the Guard name was also taken. Most of the Guard stayed, and changed their uniform colors, to grey. They still work with Tomax and Xamot, who are in hiding at present in Hollywood.
With the threat of Cobra eliminated, the GI Joe team was disbanded, as a cost saving measure by the government. And then, a new threat arose. The Legion of the Golden Lightning. Only a handful of higher-ups in the Pentagon realized how serious a threat this new group was. General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy, former Commanding Officer of the Joes, was one of them. Arranging private funding, and re-using existing Joe equipment, Hawk worked to covertly reunite the Joes, with some exceptions. His old friend, Colonel Chrome, had retired, along with the Colonel's long-time love, Cover Girl. This new unit would forego some of the more outrageous units that the Joes would gain over the years. Only a few Ninjas would be on the team. This new group was more serious military. With a new headquarters set-up outside of Gray Lake, California, on what appeared to be a normal military base, Joint Base Lawrence Flagg. Like the Joe's original headquarters, The Pit, it wasn't what was on the surface that counted, but what lies beneath.
The Stormbreakers chain of command starts with General James Flagg, the son of the late General Lawrence Flagg. He feels he is honoring his father's legacy by fulfilling this role.
General Joseph Colton is the senior most member of the team serving before the Vietnam conflict. He was known by the code-name GI Joe, and his name was carried over to the new team when it was formed in the early 80s.
Generak Hawk serves as the Field Commander of the Team, just as he did on the Joes. He directs the team's land operations, and co-directs air operations.
Admiral Keel-Haul, commander of the USS Flagg, co-directs air operations, and supervises sea operations.
Colonel Courage answers directly to Hawk, and fills a void left by Colonel Chrome's retirement.
Claymore earned his Captain's rank leading a Special Mission in Brazil in the 80s, leading a group of then rookie Joes.
Despite a rough start with the Joe team, Lt Falcon later distinguished himself in battle, passing his half-brother Duke in the team's chain of command.
The long-time first Sergeant of the Joes, Duke now finds himself saluting his younger half-brother, and doesn't resent it at all.
Stalker has been with the Joes from the beginning, and now, as a Stormbreaker, he's earned his stripes, just as he had long earned the respect of his comrades.
Flint's experience with the Joes keeps him in the chain of command, yet still gives him time for his wife, Lady Jaye.
It takes a tough drill instructor to keep the Stormbreakers in shape, and there's none tougher than Sgt Slaughter. (Just don't bring up when he switched allegiances to Iraq, or you'll be doing push-ups with his boot on your back.)
When the corporate headquarters of the Alanax Chemical Company was destroyed, the blame was placed on a group of eco-terrorists. This was all part of Lord Lightning's plan for revenge. In wake of this, the Pentagon created a new team, dedicated to hunting down the eco-terrorists, while the Stormbreakers dealt with the Legion. The Iron Grenadiers once again became his family guard, and their gear was seemingly abandoned. But now. with Cobra gone, the Legion on the rise, and having recently escaped from federal custody, Destro feels the time is right for the Iron Grenadiers to rise again.
James McCullen Destro, the twenty-fourth Laird of the Destro Clan, heir to the vast fortune that is Military Armaments Research Syndicate (M.A.R.S.), a business that has made weapons for centuries. One of his ancestors was forced to wear an iron mask for selling weapons to both sides in the English Civil War. The mask became a tradition in the Destro Clan. Destro currently alternates between two masks. One, made of beryllium steel, for when he leads his forces from the front line, the other, gilded, for when he leads from the safety of the air in his personal flying craft, the Despoiler. Only a few people have seen his unmasked face. Cobra Commander, the Baroness and his most trusted aide, Sergeant Major Duncan.
Destro's cousin, the man known only as Darklon, deposed ruler of the country of Darklonia, made a small fortune selling second hand weapons and equipment, mainly salvaged from Joe and Cobra battles, before joining the Iron Grenadiers. Like his cousin, he wears an iron mask, though his is modified to allow him to breathe normally in toxic climates.
Voltar is a mercenary, who became General of the Iron Grenadiers in exchange for several shares in M.A.R.S. stock, knowing the weapons industry woula always be profitable. Along with his trained condor, Voltar is never far from the front line.

Sukaji is the eldest, and wisest member of the clan. His father founded the current version of the Silent Sword in the aftermath of World War II.

Predator live up to his name, by being a truly dangerous hunter. Master of many weapons, he has taken camouflage to such a high level it's an art form to him. And with his long dreadlocks, he could easily be mistaken for one of the alien hunters in his favorite movie series.
Shadow is the new head of security for Lightning Island. His dog, Mauler, doesn't know stay, heel, sit or beg. He only knows one command; Kill.
