This thread will be for the characters who live outside of Gray Lake, specifically, the Mystic Force and Jungle Fury Rangers. Like the Life in Gray Lake, this wont have regular continuing stories often.
(At Rootcore, Detrola and Clare are having lunch.)
Clare: I cant believe Merlin will be turning four in just over two weeks. Detrola: The twins are already 9. They do grow up fast. Just, not as fast as Fire Heart. Clare: True. Detrola: We'll have to begin Merlin's magic training next year, He has a proud lineage to live up to. I wonder if my brother has any living descendants.
Detrola & Clare: Happy birthday, Merlin. Lykos & Niella: Happy birthday, little brother. Merlin: Do I start ;earning magic now? Detrola: Not until next year. Phineas: I remember when I was four. I had to start shaving. Toby: You've had your beard that long? Phineas: I was born with it. Xander: Let's make this quick, mates. Cant stay away from the store too long. Bruce cant run everything by himself now. Toby: As soon as Nikki and I get back from our next trip, I'll hire some more employees. Leelee: This is what, your seventh honeymoon? Nikki: Eighth. But who's counting? Peter: You apparently, Mom. Petra: I want to count, Daddy. Peter: In a few years, sweety. Right, V? Vida: Listen to your father. You're only 3. You've got plenty of time t learn to count. Jenji: I thought vampires were naturally good at counting. Nikki: A crude sterotype, perpetuated by a certain educational television show. Daggeron: No more television for you, Jenji. Jenji: What a cat does in the privacy of his lamp is his own business. Chip: OK, that sounds like too much information.
(In Rootcore, Detrola is looking through an ancient spell book.)
Detrola: At last! Clare: What is it? Detrola: I've found what I've been looking for, almost every day since you freed me from the curse that left me a statue. Clare: Something important? Detrola: To me. The spell to return to my family's secret retreat, the Sanctuary of Merlin. Clare: So, your family home? Detrola: In a way. It was built by my ancestor, the legendary Merlin, even before he came to the service of King Arthur. All his magical relics, and those that other members of my family have found, would be there. Clare: When can we go there? Detrola: Tomorrow. The spell can only be cast at sunrise. Clare: It will be educational for the children. Detrola: Yes. I can see what became of my family after I was cursed. Perhaps finally discover if my brother has any descendants.
(The sun is not even up, when Clare, Detrola and their children exit Rootcore.)
Niella: Why are we up so early? Detrola: Because, at sunrise, I can cast a spell allowing us to access the home of our ancestors, the Sanctuary of Merlin. Merlin: What's a sanctuary and why do I have one? Detrola: Not you, specifically, but the first Merlin, the one you were named for. Merlin: Oh. Clare: The sun is starting to rise.
(Detrola takes out a piece of parchment, on which he had written down the spell.)
Detrola: Aperite portas, et educ me: primogenita mea ante Merlini sanctuarii.
(A golden portal opens.)
Detrola: I will place this epell someplace safe. For only the four of us, those descended from Merlin's bloodline, can access the sanctuary.
(Detrola holds Clare's hand, as the five of them pass through the portal. They see a gleaming castle in front of them.)
Detrola: Just as magnificent as I remember. Lykos: When is the last time you were here, Dad? Detrola: So very long ago, Lykos, with my father and brother. I was not much older than you and Niella. Well over 1100 years ago.
(As they approach the castle, the drawbridge, sensing that Detrola and his children are rightful inheritors of the castle, lowers.)
Detrola: When Merlin built this, he made sure only he and his descendants could enter. Clare, you could not enter here alone. Clare: I wouldn't come here without you and the children. Fire Heart would love it here. So much open space for him to fly around in. Detrola: We will bring him next time. There is a large platform just for dragons.
(In the Sanctuary of Merlin, the group has found a room of magical items.)
Detrola: Ah, the treasure room, as my father called it. So many great items here. Look, Merlin's staff. He used that like a wand, while giving guidance to King Arthur. Niella: What a pretty cape. Detrola: That is the Cloak of Sorrows, taken by Merlin in battle from his most fierce rival, Morgan le Fey, the half-sister of King Arthur. Lykos: Is this the Xenotome? Derola: No, son, that is better. This is our family's history. It magically updates itself, so it would tell me if we are truly the last of Merlin's bloodline. I will have to take time to study it.
(An owl flies in, and lands on a perch.)
Detrola: It cant be. Archimedes? Owl: Do I know you? Detrola: It has been a very long time since I was last here. I am Detrola. Owl (Archimedes): It has been a while, then. You were a boy when I last saw you. Detrola: That was many centuries ago, before I was placed under several curses. Clare: If he was here when you were a boy, how can he still be alive? Detrola: Time flows differently here. Eleven hundred years would have very well been eleven to Archimedes. Archimedes was once the companion to Merlin himself. Archimedes, this is my wife, Clare, and our children, Niella, Lykos and the latest in our bloodline to bear the name of Merlin. Archimedes: Yes, I see in him the same magical potential. He is well named, for one so young. Detrola: What was the last time you saw my father or brother? Archimedes: It has been a while. The last time I saw the younger Merlin, he came here, to consult the crystal, He wanted to find you. Detrola: That does not surprise me, My brother and I were always close.
(Detrola has spent several hours looking through the journal.)
Clare: The children are getting hungry. We should probably head back to Rootcore soon. Detrola: I found what I needed to know. Clare: About your brother? Detrola: Yes. Merlin married a few years after I was cursed. He was blessed with seven sons and seven daughters. He named one of his sons after me. Clare: So, you weren't the last of your line? Detrola: Well, yes, and no. The last of Merlin's descendants died during the American Civil War. He fought for the Union, never knowing he had magic at his disposal And never fathering a child. He was among the many fatalities at Gettysburg. Clare: So, this place is all yours? Detrola: Yes. Mine, and someday, our children's. Perhaps Merlin will become as great as my ancestor, his namesakm.
(Detrola closes the journal, and retrieves a small medallion.)
Clare; What's that? Detrola: This will allow me to access the sanctuary at any time, not just at sunrise. Clare: Sounds helpful. Detrola: My father made this, right before he died. He was, according to the journal, nearly 125 years old. Clare: Such longevity. Detrola: I know I will live longer, even if it will be unnaturally so. I suspect I will not die until after Fire Heart, since we love him like we love our children. And the curse is I will not die until all I love are gone. Clare: I know. Detrola; Now, we can go home.
Clare: Happy birthday, Merlin. Merlin: Thanks, Mom. Detrola: Now that you are five, your magical training can begin. Niella: We can help you, Merlin. Lykos: Beginning spells are hard to learn at first, but once you do, they'll be very helpful. Merlin: I'm ready.
Clare: Try it again, Merlin. Merlin: Ok, Mom. Pluma supernatet.
(A feather float off the table in front of Merlin.)
Lykos: Way to go, Merlin. Niella: What about that spell Uncle Chip says is says is supposed to do the same thing. clare: Try it. Niella: Windgardium Leviosa.
(A gust of wind blows the feather away.)
Clare: We'll get you another feather.
(Detrola arrives, having been at the Sanctuary of Merlin.)
Merlin: Dad, I made the feather float. Detrola: That's good, Merlin. Clare, while I was at the Sanctuary, I had a vision. A great darkness, heading for Briarwood. Something worse than anything our friends dealt with thirteen years ago. I need to go consult with someone. Clare; Who? Detrola: Nikki. I feel this darkness has to do with vampires, and who better to talk to than their former Queen.
(Detrola returns to Rootcore, having consulted with Nikki and Peter.)
Clare: Well? Detrola: Nikki knew all too well of the oncoming threat. It is her ancestor, a previous King of the Vampires. His name is lost in legends, but many have called him Varnae. He will arrive on the fourth day of the fourth month, to claim four brides, before turning the whole world into a planet of vampires. Clare: That doesn't give us much time to prepare. Detrola: We will need all the help we can get. I hope we can prepare a powerful enough spell, in case we need to summon Octavo.
(April 4, 4:04 am and 4 seconds. In the same cave where Imperious was trapped, a lone figure rises up out of the ground. This is Varnae, ancient King of Vampires.)
Varnae: After 7,000 years, I live again. It is too close to sunrise now, but come sunset, I will leave this cave, and begin to seek out my four brides. Then, this whole world will belong to the vampire/
Detrola: Clare, the crystal ball has alerted me. Varnae has awakened. He has not struck, thankfully. But it will only be a matter of time. He may not be like necrolai, who could alk about in the sun. Clare: What do we do? Detrola: We summon the others. I hope my signal reaches Octavo on Sonas.
Detrola: Octavo, I hope this message has reached you. A great darkness threatens Briarwood, and all of Earth. The Mystic Force is needed once again. If you wish to help, squeeze the orb that delivered this message, and it will transport you back to Rootcore.

Octavo: My love, I have to go. Another world is in danger. One I visited some time ago. (Mona sings a sad song) Octavo: I know I promised children for us, and we will have them once I return. (Octavo squeezes the orb, as ordered, and arrives in Rootcore)
Detrola: There is a dangerous vampire on the loose. Necrolai's ancestor, Varnae. He will be seeking four brides, and then, try to turn the whole world into vampires.
(Merlin runs in.)
Merlin: Daddy, Fire Heart's hungry. Detrola: I shall feed him in a moment, Merlin. (to Detrola) You left before Clare and I became parents. This is our youngest, Merlin. He has an older brother and sister, our twins, Lykos and Niella. Merlin, this is Octavo, he helped Nick, Chip and the others, before your mother and I got married. Merlin: Hello.
