<at the duel...> Yuma: What are you, a ghost? Astral: What is a ghost? What effects do ghosts have? (Suddenly...) I do not have my memories. They have been lost when I appeared before you. As such, I blame you for what has happened. Yuma: You have soooo lost it. This is an important duel, and you are distracting me. Astral: Calm down, please. Shark: I do not know what is going on, but I intend to take your deck. I set a card and end my turn. Astral: There may be a memory linked to these numbers. We have to win this turn. My turn. Yuma: MY turn. Astral: This card would be perfect in defense mode. Yuma: Please, let me duel MY way. I summon Gogogo Golem in attack. (1800) Astral: That's not enough to defeat that monster. Yuma: Just watch. I activate my spell, Blustering Winds. This adds 1000 attack to my Golem. (2800) Attack! (Shark - 3700) Bronk: Shouldn't that dragon be destroyed? Tori: I know that the highest attack is supposed to win. Yuma: Explain. Shark: My card is a Number. Only another Number can destroy it. Yuma: But I do not have one. (Dennis looks at his Number) Dennis (thinking): I have one, I know Angel has one. Bronk: So if Yuma had a Number, your card would be destroyed. Interesting. Yuma: That is not the issue. I have the higher attack monster. Astral: As long as Shark can detatch an overlay, he will destroy your monster. If he has a monster with more than 800 attack, this duel is over. Yuma: I still have 1000 life points, I am not worried. Astral: Your tactics are at best inferior. Yuma: What is tactics? And inferior? Astral: I take it your grades are as bad as your tactics. Shark: This draw will decide the duel. I summon Drill Barnacle to the field. (300) Astral: We are safe. Yuma: What do you mean? Shark: I detach my overlay. My dragon attacks your golem. (Yuma- 800) Astral: That was the obvious move. Shark: Now, I attack with my Barnacle. (Yuma- 500) Astral: You should have placed that card in defense. Once per turn, it can save itself from attack. That would have saved your life points. (Yuma looks at his hand) Yuma: My hand... it's disappearing. Astral: As I figured. We must win this duel. These Numbers are pieces of memories. When two Numbers attack, the one with the stronger number wins. The loser can lose his number to the winner. Yuma: So, if we do not win, I will be erased. (Yuma looks at his hand) I have nothing to counterattack with. At least I can stop his dragon. Shark: True, but what this. My Barnacle now goes up to 1000 attack. Yuma: Great. Just great. Astral: I see a trap on the field. On your field. Bye Bye Damage. You could have used that to damage Shark. Your golem would have been saved. Shark: Just give up. Yuma: Never. Astral: Toma, just continue the duel. You will draw a card that can help you. Yuma: The name is Yuma. I draw. Wow. (thinking) Monster Reborn. Astral: Destiny has not abandoned you yet. Yuma: I am the one who drew that, not you. I summon Ganbara Knight in attack (0) Oops. Shark: See? He's just throwing the duel away now. Yuma: I will never give up. I can do a "kattaobingu" anytime. Astral: I don't understand. Yuma: It's like accepting a challenge. The same as when a heart never gives up. Shark: You're just wind. I hate people like you. Astral: It is okay, Toma. If you had placed it in defense, you would have lost the chance at a counter attack. Yuma: The name is Yuma! Yu-ma! Astral: Just use Monster Reborn. I do not what to fade away. Yuma: Fine, but I still do not trust you. I activate Monster Reborn! I Special Summon my Gagaga Magician to the field in attack. Shark: What's the point? You have no XYZ monsters. Astral: You do. You can do an XYZ summon now. Yuma: But I have no monsters. Astral: Check your Extra Deck. (Yuma does. He notices a black card.) Yuma: I have one. Odd... I can't read it. Astral: I can. It is Number 39, Utopia. Yuma: A Number? Astral: That must be your Number, Astral. Use its power. Yuma: Indeed. Time to do this. I overlay my two monsters. Summon the Overlay Network! Come forth, my Number! Number 39, Utopia! (2500) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number 39, Utopia Light/ Warrior/ XYZ / Effect Rank 4 2500 Attack / 1200 Defense 2 Level 4 monsters When any player's monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack. When this card is targeted for an attack, while it has no Xyz Materials: Destroy this card. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I attack your Barnacle. (Shark - 2500) Dennis (thinking): Interesting. This may be the one... <Tbc>

Max: Can you think of a playlist I should set up for her? Shaba: Click-click-whistle-beep-tweet. Max: Ok, you're not a music lover.

<At the duel...> Yuma: I am so blessed. My "kattubingo" has payed off. Bronk: Your monster is still weaker than the dragon. Yuma: That is true. Shark: I will show you the folly of angering me. My turn. I activate Surfacing. This allows me to resummon my Big Jaws. I now sacrifice it for Jawsman. (2900) Tori: What is that? Bronk: It allows you to summon a high level monster by getting rid of a lower level one. Shark: Destroy that Number. Yuma: I hope my card has an effect. Astral: If you detach a overlay, it can negate an attack. Yuma: Fine. I detach my Knight to negate your attack. Shark: My Dragon attacks. Come on, detach your last monster. Astral: He's goading you. Yuma: I know, but I have another card. I reveal Bye Bye Damage! (Yuma - 100, Shark - 1700) Astral: You used that like Utopia's effect. Yuma: Of course. Shark: Not true. I activate my trap Explosive Urchin. Unless you defeat me this turn, you take 1000 damage next time I start my turn. Yuma: I still have one combo in my deck. (Yuma eats his grandma's food) My victory meal. Shark: Do not declare victory yet. Yuma: My turn. Let's feel the flow! (thinking) Exactly what I wanted. (aloud) I attack your dragon. Tori: Why? Bronk: I don't know. Yuma: I detach my last monster to save my card. Shark: Good move, but end your turn so I can finish you off. Yuma: That isn't going to happen. I activate Double or Nothing. Now my card's attack doubles. And I get to attack again. (Shark loses) Yuma: Now, hand over the deck so I can return it. Astral: That's another Number. Maybe, if I collect all ninety-nine, my memories will return. Dennis: Good duel. My name is Dennis. Yuma: My name is Yuma. You're a duelist? Dennis: I am. (checking watch) I can't stay long. Yuma: So, you saw my Number. Dennis: I did. I think you have the makings of a champ. Yuma: Me? (laughs) I need more practice. Dennis: You can always ask me for practice. I'll be around. (Dennis leaves) Tori: What a nice guy. Yuma (thinking): Mom, Dad, I finally won a duel. Shark: Here's the deck. (Shark hands Yuma the deck, leaving afterwords) Tori: How rude. Astral: You bet everything on that one draw. You do have the makings of a great duelist. Yuma: I am beginning to trust you, but only just a bit. Astral: You are a duelist that exceeds my own understanding, Toma. Yuma (angry): The name is Yuma! YUMA! <tbc>

(Dennis makes it back before final period. Afterwards...) Angel: I hate homework. Dennis: I like it, but today is my Akido practice. If I do not keep up, I won't get my yellow belt. Angel: Martial Arts? Why? Dennis: I never told you how I got my Number. You always tell me that you were once a youth beauty contender. Your mom always entered you every year. Angel: When I became thirteen, my mom wanted me to enter Miss Teen Heartfield. I placed third. She said I wasn't beautiful enough. I thought I was. It was then I saw my Number. Number 11. (Dennis nods) Dennis: I know you have told me that story. Now, I will tell you mine.
<Flashback, three years ago> Dennis: Back when I was middle school, I was picked on by a bunch of bullies for being a nerd. They called me names, stole my books and cards, and did things that I did not like. I tried to tell a teacher, but he thought I was lying. A week later, I was beaten up. (pause) After the attack, my parents transferred me here. They enrolled me in martial arts for self defense. I wasn't picked on here, but people were not my friends. Then one day... Voice: You must protect the next champion. Dennis: Who speaks? Voice: I am your Number. Number 12. I want to help you defend those that are defenseless. Dennis: Where are you? Voice: I am in your deck. (Dennis checks. There is a black card.) Dennis: Indeed you are here. <End flashback> Dennis: I built my deck with Exceed Summons in mind. I wanted to keep them on the field as long as I could. I know you have only Rank 4 Exceeds. Angel: Three right now. Dennis: I have one Rank 4, two Rank 5 and two Rank 6. Angel: Two Rank 5? Dennis: Quint Warrior and Frost and Fire Mage. My Rank 6s are Overexceed and Twin Wing Dragon. Angel: Besides my Number, I have Clone Angel and Reflect Angel. Dennis: I see. I will meet you at homeroom tomorrow. (Dennis heads to his practice)

<Dojo> Sensei: You are late. Keep this up, and you will never get your yellow belt. Dennis: Sorry. (Dennis sits down, watching several people practice. A green belt student approaches) Student: Late again, I see. Dennis: Yes. Student: Ever since you got that black card, you have been slacking. Ever thought of giving it to someone? Dennis: Certainly not you. Student: Just asking. Okay, back to training. <tbc>
