[Rainbow Ranger]

(Starting this one day early due to work)

(In a dream, a young boy reaches a large door)
Door: Whoever opens this door will get a great power. However, that power comes with a cost. They will lose the thing that they treasure the most. Will you open it?
(The boy moves to open the door...)

(And he falls out of his bed, waking up)
Boy: Man, I am so late for school!
(The boy is Yuma, a 13 year old kid who wears an usual key. He gets ready for school, heading downstairs)
Yuma: Sis, you were supposed to get me ready for school.
Kari: You're in junior high now. You should be able to wake yourself up. Besides, I am backlogged on orders.

(Yuma heads out, meeting his grandmother)
Haru: You didn't eat breakfast, did you?
Yuma: I am so late, grandma.
(Haru uses her broom to stop Yuma)
Haru: You can't grow up without breakfast. Eat.

(Yuma rushes through the neighborhood, trying to get to school on time)
Dennis (thinking): Who was that?
(Yuma continues on)
Bronk: You wanna race to school, Yuma?
Yuma: You're on. I'll show you what "Kattobingu daze, Ore!" means.
(OOC: That phrase is his motto in the japanese anime)
(Yuma tries to win, but Bronk cheats. Yuma runs afoul of cleaning robots, who cause him to lose some of his deck)
Yuma: Give those back. That isn't trash.
(The robots continue to clean)
Yuma: Please...

(Above, Tori sees this)
Tori: Great...
Girl: That was Yuma, right?
(Tori blushes)
Tori (sotto voce): What an idiot. I hope he's ok.

(At gym, Yuma tries to vault over a stack of blocks, but knocks it over)
Tori: Are you okay?
Bronk: Idiot.

(At the pool, Yuma fails to cross the length of the pool in one breath)

(Later in class...)
Tori: So that key, is a momento from your travelling parents?
Yuma: Yes. This will open possibilities for me.
Tori: Really?
Yuma: No.

(On break, the two arrive in a square. People are dueling)
Yuma: D-Gazer activate.
(The D-Gazer is akin to the holographic system Kaiba developed. Perhaps it is even the next generation of holograpic technology. This allow people to see an augmented reality, where Duel Monster cards come alive)
Yuma: I will be the next Duel Champion.
Tori: Are you going to lose again?
Yuma: As long as I keep going, I can win.
Tori: Up there. Shark is dueling.

(Tori and Yuma head up to see Shark)
Shark: I now construct the Overlay Network! I overlay my two level three monsters to summon Submersible Carrier Aero Shark!
Tori: That was an XYZ summon? (pause) What is an XYZ summon?
Yuma: Unlike most other summons, the cards used in an XYZ summon become overlays, or supports of the monster. Unfortunately, I do not have a XYZ monster.
I do think they are amazing.

(Shark attacks Bronk, winning the duel)
Shark: Now I can take your deck.
Yuma: Stop.
Lackey: Who is that?
Yuma: My name is Yuma. I am in the same class as Bronk. And taking his deck is wrong.
Lackey: You don't get it. First-time duelists bet their deck, and he lost.
Yuma: Then I will put up my deck. If I win, you return his.
Shark: Sounds fair. Tomorrow, then.

<Next Day...>
Tori: You put up your deck. You certain you can win?
Yuma: I will try.

(At break...)
Shark It's time.

(OOC: I am certain you have seen the preview clips. Yes, that is Yuma's phase. Don't blame me.)

(OOC: If GAR wishes to join, if he likes, I suggest his character be no older than 16.)

(Before the Duel can begin, music can be heard. Vibrant music, perfect for dancing. A 15 year old boy can be seen moving to the music. He's wearing a cape, and has a strange device on his wrist, which is the source of the music. Accompanying him is a small robot, perched on his shoulder.)

Robot: Chirp-click-click-beep.
Boy: Mom and Dad want me to make friends. This looks like a good place to start. If you dont like it, Shaba, you can go into your recharge cycle.

Yuma: I will go first. I summon Zubaba Knight in attack mode. (1600)
Shark: My turn. I summon my Big Jaws in attack mode (1800). Now I activate my Aqua Jet Spell, increasing the attack of my card by 1000 until the End Phase. (2800) Attack him.
(Yuma: 2800) I set a card end end my turn.
Yuma: My turn. I summon Gagaga Magician in attack mode (1500). I now activate my Wonder Wand spell. This increases its attack by 500. (2000) Attack his fish!
Shark: I reveal my trap, Zeus Breath! Since I have a water monster, I can cancel your attack and deal 800 damage to you.
(Yuma: 2000)
Yuma: I set a card and end my turn.
Shark: I summon Skull Kraken (800) and use its effect to destroy your equip spell. Now that I have two level 3 monsters, I can activate the Overlay Network! Arise, my Number! Number 17, Leviathan Dragon! (2000)

Yuma (seeing spirit): Huh? Who are you?
Tori: Who are you talking to?
Yuma: I see a spirit.
Tori: I see nothing.
Spirit: Stand up. You need to win this duel.
Yuma: Who are you?
Spirit: Call me Astral. I wish to help you.

Boy: You know I find Duels boring.

(At the high school across the park...)
Dennis: Seventh Period. Study Period. I guess I can go to the park today.
(Angel arrives)
Angel: Hi, Dennis.
Dennis: Hello.
(They shake hands. Angel pulls out what looks like a cell phone. It's actually a Personal Assistant)
Dennis: Another date?
Angel: Yup. Being the most beautiful in high school means that everyone wants to date you. (Angel puts a date on the PA, and saves it) Too bad I can't go with you to the park. Math class.
(Dennis nods. Another student arrives)
Dennis: Josh.
Josh: Angel, when's your next opening? I want to go out with you.
Angel (checking): I am full until Thursday after class. Say 4?
Josh: Sure.
Dennis: The football team's QB. That's interesting.
Angel: He doesn't duel well. What's after study period?
Dennis: Pre-calculus. I am passing that. Professor may put me in GT calculus.
Angel (sighing): I hate math.
(The bell rings)
Dennis: Be back at final period.
Angel: See you later.
(Dennis heads to the park, turning on his D-Gazer)
Dennis: Not much going on... hmm... new kid dueling.
(Dennis heads over to watch. His Gazer has an alarm set so that he can get back before last period)

(The boy, dancing to his music, isnt paying attention to where he's going, and bumps into Tori.)

Tori: People do not say "Excuse me" anymore. At least have the courtesy to say that. By the way, who are you?

(Dennis is watching Yuma duel, not noticing Tori)

Boy: Sorry. I was just in a groove. Name's Max. Max Redstone. As in Redstone Dance Academy, Redstone Dance Revolution. And this is Shaba. Short for Shabadaba.
Shaba: Chirp-tweet-whistle=beep.

My friend, Yuma, is currently dueling.
(Dennis isn't listening, he is watching the duel)

Max: That makes two of us. She's my Great Great Great Great Grandmother. I think that's the right amount of greats. Family trees arent my strong suit. Dancing is. Which is why I've got this wrist juke. Infinite song storage, thanks to cloud technology.

Max: I've never been much for Dueling. That's a different branch of the Redstone family. Same way with my brother. He's got a great eye with his camera, but no rhythym, Which is surprising. Dad's a choreographer, Mom's a dancer. They met in a show he was working on, 25 years ago.

Max: He's multi-functional.

Tori: Near the dance academy. I know the location. Some of my family go there.
